About Our School

Stamshaw Junior School

Stamshaw Junior School is located in the north-western corner of Portsea Island, close to the M275 and less than 2 miles from the nearest train station.  With extensive school grounds, Stamshaw Junior also benefits from being close to two large parks, and Portsmouth’s main area for sporting facilities.

A Values Led School

At Stamshaw Junior School we have five values that underpin all that we do.

They include:

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Reliable
  • Be Resourceful
  • Be Resilient
  • Be Reflective

These values are for everyone at our school including parents and carers.

By signing up to the five values we will achieve fantastic things at our fabulous school.

Be kind. Do your best. Achieve together.

An Ethos of Local Partnership

The University of Chichester Academy Trust shares the belief of the University itself that education has the power to transform society. Stamshaw Junior School is firmly rooted in its locality and encourages the involvement and interest of parents and the community, recognising that strong and vibrant communities have partnership and inclusion at their heart.

Together We Make a Difference, Raising Aspirations and Enriching Lives

The University of Chichester took the decision to become an Academy sponsor in 2012, and in 2019 the University of Chichester celebrates 180 years of experience, in Teacher Education. The University is a highly inclusive educator. Over half of undergraduate entrants are from families with no previous university education. A third of students are from households with the lowest income in the country.

The University chose to set up our Academy Trust in order to extend the reach of its ethos beyond the higher education sector and welcomed schools facing difficult times and serving deprived areas. Since opening, the Trust has established itself as a highly effective school improver. Every academy which joined with us at RI or below has improved. Leadership is now at least good in every academy that has been inspected since it joined the Trust. Outcomes for all our pupils are improving rapidly and especially so for children from deprived backgrounds. Our disadvantaged pupils make better progress than non-disadvantaged children nationally.

Our Vision

Our vision is for all young people to be inspired by an excellent education that raises their aspirations and enriches their lives.

Our Mission

Our Mission is to create a vibrant inclusive and aspirational family of academies, transforming the life chances for pupils through excellent teaching, learning and leadership.
