Join the Silly Squad - Fun, Free & Online!

“Silly Squad” is a celebration of funny books, happiness and laughter, featuring artwork from award-winning children's author and illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson.

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place over the summer holidays throughout the UK. It is the UK’s biggest free reading promotion for primary-aged children.

Due to the current situation and the impact of social distancing on schools and public libraries, this year the Summer Reading Challenge has been launched in an online format.

Children are encouraged to read any books of their choice during the summer holiday and record these online, unlocking rewards as they reach their target.

Take Part

To take part, parents/carers need to register children online in a secure two-step verification process summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

The website is free to access and a place for children to rate and review their books and work towards their reading goal. It also features video content, games, quizzes and digital and downloadable activities to incentivise and encourage children and their families to take part in the Challenge at home.
