Year 5 & The Crafty Chocolatier

On Monday 29th April, Year 5 were joined by, ‘The Crafty Chocolatier’ as part of their ‘A Taste of Tobago' topic. They not only explored the journey from 'bean to bar', but also revisited prior learning links to science - changes of materials - including reversible and irreversible changes.

Children learned about the origin of the cacao bean and looked at examples of the bean and cacao nibs - sampling some along the way. They learned the importance of chocolate being tempered, the temperatures at which this is best for, and tasted a range of chocolate with different percentages of cacao.

The children then created their own chocolate pizza - decorating it with their own choice of toppings!
